Risk Disclosure
Current statusNexlot is in construction and testing. There are no public sign-ups, nothing is for sale, no fee is charged, and no bot trades real money — execution runs against exchange testnets only. This document describes that state and will be re-issued under a new version before any of it changes.
Trading financial instruments carries a high risk of loss. You can lose some, all, or — with leverage — more than the money you put in. Do not trade with money you cannot afford to lose entirely.
This page forms part of the Terms of Service. It is not boilerplate, and it is not here to be scrolled past. If any of it is new to you, that is a reason to stop and read rather than a reason to skip ahead.
1What Nexlot does not do
Nexlot does not make trading safe, and it does not make you profitable. It is a set of tools for recording what you did, testing what you propose to do, and executing rules you wrote yourself. The risk of the trade is the same as it would be without us.
We are not an investment adviser, a broker, or a portfolio manager. We publish no signals and give no recommendations. Nothing in the software or on this website is advice to buy, sell, or hold anything, and nothing in it is a suitability assessment for you personally.
2The specific risks
Market risk
Prices move against positions. Crypto in particular moves violently, trades 24/7, and can gap far beyond your intended exit. A strategy that worked for months can stop working in a week, with no warning and no defect in the software.
Leverage
Leverage multiplies losses on the same terms it multiplies gains. With leveraged products you can lose more than your deposit, and you can be liquidated in seconds during a fast move.
Automation risk
An automated strategy executes exactly what you told it to, including the parts you did not think through. A bug in your logic, a wrong parameter, or a market condition you never tested can produce a rapid sequence of losing trades faster than you can intervene. Automation removes hesitation — including the useful kind.
Technical risk
Servers fail. Networks drop. Exchange APIs go down, rate-limit, reject orders, or fill them at prices you did not expect. Market data can be delayed or wrong. A bot can be unable to close a position at the moment closing it matters most.
Keep direct access to your exchange account so you can always close a position yourself, without Nexlot.
Counterparty risk
Your exchange or broker holds your funds — we never do. If they freeze withdrawals, get hacked, or fail, that is a risk between you and them, and one Nexlot cannot insulate you from.
Backtest risk
A profitable backtest is not a prediction. Overfitting, survivorship bias, look-ahead bias, unmodelled slippage and fees all make historical results look better than live trading turns out to be. The Backtest and AI Disclaimer covers this in detail.
3Guardrails are not guarantees
NexAlgo includes risk controls — a kill switch, a daily-loss sweep that disables trading when a limit is breached, testnet-by-default execution. They exist because they help, and we would rather ship them than not.
They can still fail to save you. A guardrail depends on our service running, on the exchange responding, and on the limit you configured being a sensible one. In a fast market a position can move past your limit before anything can act on it. Treat these as seatbelts, not as a reason to drive faster.
4No performance promise
We make no representation that you will profit, that any strategy will perform, or that past results will repeat. Where the site shows figures, they describe what the software measures or computes — never a return you should expect. Anyone promising you a return on trading software is either mistaken or lying.
5Your decisions are yours
You decide what to trade, how much, with what leverage, and whether to automate it. You are responsible for those decisions and for their outcomes. Losses arising from your trading are not damage caused by Nexlot, and clause 9 of the Terms of Service sets out where our liability begins and ends.
Trading may be taxed where you live, and reporting it is your responsibility. We do not give tax advice.
6Get advice if you need it
If you are unsure whether trading — or a particular strategy, instrument or position size — is appropriate for your circumstances, consult a licensed financial adviser. We are not one. We will not tell you a strategy is a good idea, because we are not permitted to and because we would not know.
